01 / INSTALL
Install Malple CLI
Install the published package from PyPI. Malple CLI requires Python 3.9 or newer.
python -m pip install --upgrade malple-cli
malple-cli --helpTo enable desktop interaction, install the optional computer support:
python -m pip install --upgrade "malple-cli[computer]"02 / GET STARTED
Sign in and send a task
Sign in with your verified Malple account. Your password is entered privately and is not saved. Add a folder only if the task needs local files.
malple-cli login
malple-cli workspace add ~/projects/my-project
malple-cli ask --workspace ~/projects/my-project "Summarize the changed files"Use malple-cli status to check the session and enabled folders.
03 / LOCAL PERMISSIONS
Only grant the folder you need
A folder grant lets Malple list files, read UTF-8 text, create or replace text files, and create folders within that location. Reads used for a task may be sent to TuluAI. Malple does not follow symbolic links, expose .git internals, or run arbitrary shell commands.
Use malple-cli workspace remove PATH to revoke a folder, malple-cli history to review local actions, malple-cli history --clear to clear the log, and malple-cli logout to remove the terminal session. Press Ctrl+C to stop a run.
04 / COMPUTER CONTROL
Work with the visible desktop
Computer access is off until each user enables it. When a task needs visual context, Malple captures the screen in memory and sends it to its model service for that task; the CLI does not save it. Supported actions include opening allowlisted apps, HTTPS websites and enabled-workspace documents, plus browser and desktop interaction.
Every click, typed string, key press and scroll requires a separate confirmation in the terminal. The CLI displays text before typing and blocks credential-like text. Never automate passwords, tokens or payment credentials. macOS may require Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions.

For example, enable a parent folder with malple-cli workspace add ~/Desktop, then ask Malple to create a folder there. Keep using the web app for connected service tools.
